Cecilia is a german-greek interdisciplinary artist, writer, mentor and sound meditation facilitator. She was born in Berlin in 1992 and lives and works in Europe. Her art ranges from sculpture, painting and clay animation to jewellery and doll fabrication. Beyond the physical manifestation of her work through materiality and painting, she incorporates sound, performance and interactive practices in her work. Cecilia facilitates meditation sessions, workshops and courses and frequently fuses these elements to birth interactive installations. Her creations carry a sense of lightness, curiosity and play while allowing a deeper sense of tension and weight.
Her work serves as a reminder of what lies beneath the surface; offering an insight into the beauty of exploring hidden realms with courage and lightheartedness. Her work concerns itself with tools and methods supporting individuals to find a guided path of self discovery and living as ones most authentic self. At its core, her work follows the principles of embodying what you teach and “adoring the fire” (Sanskrit Agnimile); the concept of facing that which we wish to ignore.
Cecilia’s attraction to clay lies within its timeless, rich history, and the materials tactile and intimate nature. Working with clay is a way of building connection and relationship with the textures of the natural world. Clay in its essence reminds her of human skin, the freshness of soil, the colours of stone and sand. She believes it allows us to see and feel the imperfections within perfection, within creations, and recalls the value in surrendering the outcome of our actions to the fire, to life. Clay remains a symbol of solid foundational stability as it has witnessed numerous cultural rebirths and transforms in accordance with the needs of time and place.
